My name is Jared and I am the 2013 North Dakota Children’s Miracle Network Champion for Sanford Children’s Hospital. My experience with Sanford Children’s Hospital began in October 2012 when I was in a bad ATV accident. Sanford’s Air Ambulance Service, Sanford AirMed, picked me up at my home near Leonard, ND and brought me to Sanford Children’s Hospital.
A specialized team of experts was waiting for me and I was rushed into emergency surgery to fix my bruised, collapsed and leaking lungs. While in surgery, it became evident that I was too weak for the surgeon to repair my lungs. The only life support option left to help me was the oscillator ventilator. The oscillator, purchased with Children’s Miracle Network funds, is the reason I am here today.
After two weeks in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to heal eight broken ribs, a fractured scapula and leaks in my lungs, I walked out of Sanford Children’s Hospital. The doctors and nurses at Sanford Children’s consider me a miracle because of my quick recovery with no long-term effects. Thank you for helping kids like me by supporting Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Children’s!
